State Overview
Plateau State, created on February 3, 1976, is located in the North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Named after the picturesque Jos Plateau, a mountainous area with captivating rock formations, the state enjoys a temperate climate with an average elevation of 1,280 meters (4,200 feet). Known as the "Home of Peace and Tourism," Plateau State is the 12th largest state in Nigeria with diverse natural resources and a rich cultural heritage spanning over 50 ethnic groups.
